Jazz Danis

Jazz Danis, owner of Jazz Aline Arts, is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist from Treaty 1 territory in Manitoba, Canada. She builds on and explores what it means for people to be reimagined in the land. Inspired by folk arts and surrealism she blends together visuals from observation and her own experiences to shape artworks that offer story.
She favours folk art techniques and styles as they so effectively record moments in time, and feelings of place. These techniques passed down through generations also serve to document the depth of human societies and all its intricacies from specific time periods and from different perspectives. Most importantly, her folk art style is rooted in community and all its nuances. Through fabrics, ink, and paint, Jazz illuminates these old traditions of storytelling with a fresh new perspective.
