Lou Agas

Originally from the Philippines, Lou has been drawing since he was a child. He made a career in the broadcast industry, specialising in motion graphics and animation. He and his family moved to Aotearoa in 2010.

Traditional Art
Acrylic is his chosen medium. Lou’s art is characterised by textures using brushes, palette knives, and other mark-making tools. His subjects are varied, from human figures to landscapes. His painting process is to simplify details and finish with chaos.

Digital Art
He has been using Adobe Photoshop since the early 2000s in his work as a motion graphic designer, but only last year did he use it for his paintings. He released his "Deities" series last October with four digital paintings. In this series, he attempts to personify nature and use this as a device to communicate environmental issues.
