Martin Hermans

Martin spent the past forty odd years as an Art Director and Creative Director at big-name ad agencies in Auckland and Wellington. But he’s semi-retired from the corporate world now and has turned his creative talents to the more wholesome and genteel (though certainly much less lucrative) art of painting.

Mostly landscapes and cityscapes, Martin’s acrylic on canvas works set out to capture the amazing light we are blessed with in this country, and the way it shapes both our rural and urban outlooks.

He keeps his work fresh and spontaneous, capturing the moment rather than the extraneous detail, and isn’t afraid to explore exaggerated colours and simplified forms.
