Dee Warring

Working from her Paraparaumu Beach home studio, Dee creates vibrant, emotional, expressive artworks in various styles and genres.

Her narrative figurative paintings explore intimacy and power in relationships, dreams, and women’s spiritual journeys. Her landscapes of New Zealand coast, bush and hills often use mixed media and draw you into the scene. Her abstracts play with light, movement and colour.

A love of light is what attracted Dee to black and white photography, and she continues to explore light and dark in her painting and drawing.

Dee has had an art practice of nearly 40 years in Wellington, Sydney, and Kāpiti. She has a fine arts degree majoring in printmaking and photography and has exhibited in both solo and group shows in Wellington including at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts. She won the Inverlochy Art School’s overall painting award in 2005.
