This is my latest illustration painting of two native New Zealand Kōkako birds. Back at the beginning of 2016, I visited Masterton in the North Island of New Zealand. While driving, I noticed a large bird rescue facility that covered miles of native forest, all protected by a high, neat fence to keep predators out. This facility, Pukaha National Wildlife Centre, is known for its extensive conservation efforts and is home to the first white kiwi in captivity.
