The Lockheed Ventura was an upgrade from the Lockheed Hudson and was a two engined medium bomber used by the United States and British Commonwealth countries in several guises including maritime patrol. RNZAF in the Pacific received 137 Ventura’s from August 1942. Picture depicts RNZAF Ventura’s of 1BR Squadron based at Emirau Island (PNG) in June 1945 returning from a bombing raid over Rabaul Harbour.
