This is a very special piece for me. I painted it for my aunt when she was very sick with cancer, just weeks before she died.
It was wonderful to see her eyes light up as she unwrapped it, and also to witness the relationship that her and my dad had – the giggles and the cheeky grins lasted right to the end.
The reference photo of this piece was taken by my friend Demelza Andreoli.
The original of this print is watercolour, gouache and acrylic paint pens on paper.
