Shermila Siriwardana

Shermila has been creating art since childhood, first sketching, painting, and sculpting with natural clay from her backyard. She chose to develop her creative voice independently, allowing her practice to evolve instinctively and privately, guided by curiosity and pure expression. After years in a corporate career, motherhood prompted her to reconnect with that artistic self. Her move from Sri Lanka to New Zealand deepened this transition, and the quiet of her new surroundings brought a renewed intensity to her work. Today, Shermila paints with the same intuitive energy that shaped her early creations, finding nourishment and clarity in the silence of her home studio.
