Hoiho or yellow-eyed penguins are an iconic bird on the Otago coast, although numbers are declining. Here a penguin is calling to announce its return to its home beach on Otago Peninsula after a day’s fishing out at sea. The evening light has given the wet rocks an attractive blue cast.
